An executive order by the current White House administration to delay any regulations that have not yet taken affect for up to 60 days. This order appears to include the regulations governing the submission of state accountability plans. Massachusetts is among a group of states that is moving to submit a state accountability plan by April 3.
Under the ESSA, the updated accountability plans are expected to be implemented during the 2018-2019 school year.
No word yet from either the United States Department of Education, Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education or Secretary of Education James Peyser on what this delay will mean for Massachusetts public schools.
