Provisional License Validity Period Guidelines

The Provisional (formerly Preliminary) is valid for five years of employment. As of July 1, 2019 educators are limited to a total of five years of employment under any combination of Provisional licenses. Educators will be required to advance an existing license to Initial by completing an approved route to an Initial license.

The draft guidelines provide different scenarios where educators who hold multiple Provisional licenses and how this impacts their ability to be legally employed after July 1, 2019.

The draft Provisional License Validity Guidelines are available online.
