Medications in Public & Private Schools – Proposed updates to regulations 2025

Public comments on proposed amendments to the school medication administration regulations are due February 13, 2025. The proposed language will update the regulations to match current medical practices, refine procedures for administration of prescription and non-prescription medications and create a process for schools to administer opioid antagonists in emergency situations.

The Department of Public Health has released a set of proposed amendments related to the administration of medications in Massachusetts schools.

The public hearing will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

Written comments must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Written testimony or comments may be must include “105 CMR 210.000 – Administration of Medications in Schools” in the subject line of the email. All submitted testimony must include the sender’s full name and address.
