Redesigning Massachusetts School & District Accountability: ESSA Part 1 of Many.

The federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) was reauthorized in December 2015. The most recent iteration of this law is know as ESSA – or Every Student Succeeds Act.

Here at The Policy Minute, we not only celebrate the addition of a new acronym to the education acronym family but we also looked forward with anticipation to redesigning the state school and district accountability system in Massachusetts to align with the new federal requirements.

While many changes will be taking place under the hood of the state education machine, we will do our best to keep you up-to-date on changes, proposals and opportunities to comment on what works in public schools.

To get you started, check out the United Stated Departement of Education (US ED) home page on ESSA and the National Education Association (NEA) Implementation Begins home page.
