The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is slowly releasing guidance and updates related to the changes to educator licensure approved in June 2017.

So far, we have identified three areas where updated information may be accessed by educators on the DESE website.

The new regulatory language for Educator Licensure and Preparation Program Approval (603 CMR 7.00) and Educator License Renewal (603 CMR 44.00) has been updated on the DESE website.

The Licensure Requirements Tool now uses the same licensure field names, grade levels and requirements as the new regulations.

If you currently hold a license that is impacted by change to the name, grade level(s) or validity, DESE has released preliminary guidance as part of the Summary of June 2017 Regulations information page. A separate document includes summarized information on the changes as well as guidance for educators seeking to renew Professional level licenses.  You can review the Summary of June 2017 Regulation Changes here.

If you are impacted by the changes and need more information on next steps, MTA members may contact us at licensure@massteacher.org for assistance.
