The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has posted a number of professional development opportunities related to topics in special education. Programs are designed for para educators, classroom teachers and other educational professionals.

The courses, workshops and institutes available are posted at www.doe.mass.edu/sped/training/pdseries.html

Many of these no-cost options will earn educators Professional Development Points (PDPs) that may be applied towards the 15 PDPs in special education for renewal of a Professional license.  Certain courses offered in partnership with DESE may satisfy the requirements for the Autism Endorsement.

  1. Hi CEPP!

Not sure who will see this email, but one of my members is asking if the DESE course called ‘ELs with Disabilities’ could possibly count for BOTH ELL and Sped PDPs at the same time. I’ve never heard of this as a possibility, but thought I’d send the question to you.

If not both at the same time, do you think this course could cover EITHER ELL or Sped?

    Thanks!
