BESE expected to vote for new Charter school for Lawrence/Methuen/Haverhill.
The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) is scheduled to meet Tuesday, February 27, 2018. On the agenda this week are updates related to the Southbridge Public Schools, charter school applications and proposed amendments to regulations related to high school graduation requirements.
The BESE is expected to vote to approve the conversion of Phoenix Academy, a Lawrence public school to full Charter School status. The new Phoenix Academic Public Charter High School will be open to serve students from Lawrence, Methuen and Haverhill.
The Acting Commissioner is not recommending the approval of the Equity Lab Charter School in Lynn due to the net school spending caps for Lynn. More information on that issue will be discussed at the meeting.
The full agenda and supporting documents are available online here.
P.S. For all you BESE junkies, there is no Monday evening BESE meeting this month.
