Public comment on the Massachusetts draft state plan for ESSA closes on March 9, 2017
The full plan and summaries can be found at the mass.gov Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) website.
What’s under the hood of the draft state plan?
Some questions to consider:
Are these the best tools for rating schools, school districts and communities?
Are there other measures DESE should focus on?
Do these measure tell parents, community members and educators relevant and useful information about their public schools?
Do these measures support building the schools our communities deserve? Or do they perpetuate a test-and-punish system?
Not sure how to comment on DESE proposals? See our post on Public Comment 101.
