In case you thought the license changes were complete…there is more work to do. Sharpen your public comment pencils!

ICYMI the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) approved a set of changes to the regulations for Educator Licensure and Preparation Program Approval (603 CMR 7.00) in June 2017.

You might have missed this part: The new regulations require the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)  to seek public comment for any formal guidelines issued by the DESE. Public comment must be open for at least 30 days.

The DESE currently has open FOUR opportunities to make your voice heard on education policies: Subject Matter Knowledge (SMK) for educator licenses, guidelines for educators with an out-of-country license who see to apply for a Massachusetts educator license, guidelines for the five-year cap on employment under a Provisional license and guidelines for pre-practicum requirements for candidates in educator preparation programs.
